After a very long journey (we had seven hours transit in Istanbul) we finally arrived in Tehran, the capital of Iran, early Saturday morning. We have stayed at the beautiful Espinas Palace, which is located high in the northern parts of the city, with incredible views of Tehran as a result.
After a few hours of rest and a really good breakfast at the hotel, our first stop in Tehran became the famous Saadabad Historical Complex. This is a 300 hectare area with several palaces, lovely greenery and lush greenhouses originating from the Qajard dynasti. Unfortunately we were not allowed to take photos in for example the Green Palace, Mohammad Reza Shah’s (the last king of Iran until the 1979 revolution) summer residence, and the Royal Cars Museum, with all his cars, but at least we can show you some photos from inside the king’s actual residence at the time. You could say he had an exclusive taste.. Leather in some of the ceilings, marble on the floors, giant crystal chandeliers and curtains made of silk.
After, we had a late lunch at Mestooran Restaurant, a very cozy restaurant serving persian food, before ending the day in 435 meters high Milad Tower. What a view of Tehran!
