In English: We continue our island-hopping south but have now left Thailand – for Langkawi in Malaysia. The islands of Langkawi are 99 in total, with another five islands that appear at low tide, and the largest island is Pulau Langkawi (and that is where we are).
We must say that we have heard unfairly negative comments about this island. Certainly, it may not be extraordinary worth returning to, but the area where we live, Chenang Area, is definitely nicer than some previous places we have visited. Here is a great beach, plenty of restaurants, and friendly people who are very good in English. Here is also very cheap shopping! Langkawi is a Tax Free island so here are lots of Tax Free stores with ridiculously cheap prices on mainly candy, alcohol, tobacco and perfume. It is a pure dream to enter store after store with chocolate from floor to ceiling :).
Here is also a lot of beautiful, unspoiled rainforest and we saw plenty of it yesterday when we went with the Langkawi Cable Car up Mount Manchincang. The cable car, which is one of the world’s steepest, rises to about 708 meters above sea level so the view from up here is really good. At 700 meters above sea level, there is also a Sky Bridge that allows you to admire the beautiful views at your own pace.
