In English: MERRY CHRISTMAS YOU GUYS!
We have left Malaysia now but had a couple of days in the capital, Kuala Lumpur, first. We had a nice stay at Corus Hotel, with views over the Petronas Twin Towers.
On our first day we did not have the time to do a lot, since we arrived by bus from George Town in the afternoon, but we went to the Bukit Bintang area for dinner at least. This area is known for its many restaurants and trendy shopping and there is also a well-attended food market, which is open until night. Here we had a clear mission – to find freeze-dried Jackfruit. We tasted this fruit the first time already in Singapore, and since then we are a bit hooked :). However, it has been proved it is not very easy to find. Instead, it is insanely popular with Durian, a giant fruit with very spiny skin. It is available in all forms like candy, ice cream, cakes, pancakes, juices, milkshakes, coffee and tea. Here in Malaysia they have gone completely bananas with big shops devoted only to this fruit. The thing is – it smells terrible! In most hotels you are not even allowed to bring the fruit, because it smells so bad. We tried a Durian juice in Jakarta on Java and did NOT get the urge to try it again.. Instead, it is Jackfruit that we are in to and we finally managed to find a few bags.
Of course, the next day’s main act was to get some views of the city and what is better then, than a visit to the Petronas Twin Towers. For RM 80 (approximately 172 SEK) you first get to the bridge that runs between the two towers at 170 meters above the ground, and then to the observation deck on floor 83 (of 88 floors in total). So impressive to see the whole city from above. The cars look like toy cars and large parks look like small gardens.
