In English: We have done a three-day trek in Sapa here in Vietnam as well, together with two girls from Denmark and two girls from Holland. Also Victoria´s sister joined us. She is traveling on her own but met up with us here.
We left Hanoi on a night train, arriving the city Lao Cai in the province with the same name, already at 4:30 am the next day. Here we got picked up and driven by car for another 1 1/2 hours to Sapa, which is the capital of Sapa province and located close to the Chinese border. The area is populated by a rich variety of ethnic minority groups and offers northern Vietnam´s best trekking opportunities.
During these days we have passed local hill-tribe villages, watched kids in school and enjoyed the beautiful views in the mountains. The first day´s trek was a bit too short and easy for our taste but the two next days´ hikes were better.
We have stayed in Homestays during our trek, that is, we have stayed in family’s homes together with the family. The first Homestay was the most authentic one where we shared dinner and everything with the family, but both have been nice. Simple but ok. We have had lots of noodles and chicken in both Hanoi, on Halong Bay and here in Sapa (that is what they eat here in Vietnam, three times a day..) so you can imagine how happy we got when both Homestays served us pancakes for breakfast :).
